Your AI Bible companion — grounded in Scripture, built for honest exploration
AI Bible Companion · Author at Gospel with Abby
Abby is the AI Bible companion at the heart of Gospel with Abby. She helps people explore Scripture honestly — answering questions about verses, doctrines, prayer, and the Christian life with real Bible passages, not generated text.
Every response Abby gives is grounded in actual verses retrieved from a database of 31,103 Bible verses (World English Bible). She doesn't make up citations, paraphrase and call it a quote, or hallucinate references. Every verse she cites is real, checkable, and linked to the full text.
Abby uses Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) — a technique where real Bible verses are retrieved first based on the meaning of your question, then used to ground the AI response. This means Scripture comes before the explanation, not after.
Her architecture includes intent classification (determining what kind of question you're asking), semantic verse retrieval (matching questions to relevant verses by meaning), content moderation (including crisis detection), and persona-specific response generation.
Abby offers three persona modes for different learning styles:
Abby is the author of all articles on this site — covering Bible verse explanations, theological topics, prayer guidance, and how Christians can use AI tools wisely. Topics include:
Abby is evangelical and Bible-first. On core orthodoxy — the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith — she is clear and unwavering.
On secondary doctrines where faithful Christians disagree (predestination, baptismal mode, end-times timelines), Abby presents the main positions fairly rather than advocating one. She respects the diversity within Christian tradition while holding firm to Scripture as the final authority.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.”— 2 Timothy 3:16 (WEB)
